The Formulation Haus: Accelerated Formulations Explained
We’re genuinely excited to finally launch Formulation Haus.
We’ve been working on this for over a year, building (and rebuilding) a better way for brands to kick off formulation projects without the usual slow start. The goal was simple: create a process that helps clients move faster with clear direction, using a guided experience that feels as easy as a few taps on a screen.
Formulation Haus is our way of taking a skincare idea from concept to a finished, lab-ready formula, without the endless back-and-forth, delays, or confusion. Instead of starting with a blank email thread, you start with a structured customizer that helps you make the key decisions up front.
The result is a clearer brief, faster development, and a formula that’s built to fit your brand’s goals.
The big idea
Most product development slows down because the early decisions aren’t defined. Things like:
- What is the base format (cream, gel, cleanser, serum, etc.)?
- What kind of sensorial feel should it have?
- Which actives and botanicals matter most?
- How much lab support is needed to get it right?
Formulation Haus turns those questions into a simple step-by-step flow so you can lock in direction quickly and move into development with confidence.

How the Formulation Haus customizer works
The customizer is designed like a short wizard. You choose what you want, skip what you don’t, and end with a clean summary the lab can actually build from.
1) Select your enhancers
Enhancers are the add-ons that make a base formula feel unique to your brand. In the customizer, you can choose (or decline) one option from each group:
- Scent
- Botanical extracts
- Actives
This keeps the process focused. You’re not scrolling through endless options, you’re making a few high-impact choices that shape performance, positioning, and sensorial experience.
2) Choose bench engagement
Bench Engagement is where you decide how much lab support you want during development.
Some brands want a straightforward build with minimal iteration. Others want deeper support, more refinement, tighter performance targets, or more development work to hit a very specific feel.
This step sets expectations early so the lab can plan the right level of testing and development.
3) Finalize (custom requests)
Not everything fits into a checkbox—and that’s where the final step comes in.
This is where you can include specific modifications and custom requests—anything that matters to your brand that isn’t covered in the standard options. Examples might include:
- Sensory direction (lighter, richer, cushiony, fast-absorbing.
- Finish preferences (dewy, satin, matte)
- Ingredient callouts you want to include or avoid
- Target customer needs (dryness, sensitivity, texture, tone)
It’s also the best place to flag anything that needs special consideration so nothing gets missed.
Why this approach is faster
Formulation Haus speeds things up because it reduces ambiguity.
When the lab receives a structured set of choices plus clear notes, the team can move directly into development instead of spending weeks clarifying basics. You’re essentially doing the “brief-building” stage inside the customizer.
That means:
- Fewer revisions caused by unclear direction
- Faster alignment between brand and lab
- A smoother path from concept to finished formula
Who Formulation Haus is for
Formulation Haus works well for:
- New brands launching their first product
- Existing brands expanding into new product types
- Founders who want a premium formula but don’t want a drawn-out process
- Teams that need a clean, repeatable way to define product direction
Formulation Haus is a modern way to build a custom skincare formula: guided choices, clear direction, and a development process that starts with alignment.
If you want a formula that feels intentional and you want to move faster without sacrificing quality – the customizer is the simplest place to start.
